CHILD LABOUR IN GHANA

Child Labor is a widespread phenomenon in the developing world. The cause of this which has been narrowed poverty, do not convincingly show on data. Child labor prevents victims from participating in the education process. it has also increased tremendously of which Ghana is included.Victims in the Ghanaian society end up in stone quarries and sand weaning sites, and also as hawkers in the cities streets.
In Ghana, a lot of factors contributes to the problem of child labor. It includes poverty, irrelevance of education, high cost of schooling, etc. Parents should note that, ensuring the proper upbringing of their wards is neither the responsibility of the mother nor the father, but rather both.
It is so disheartening to see children of school going age selling all sort of items under the scorching sun and in the rain. Often these children become victims of sexual harassment, drug abuse and are sometimes knocked down by careless drivers, an incident that happened not long ago on the Kasoa road.
In other cases, responsibility towards children comes to a halt as soon as parents realize that their wards are capable of taking care of themselves regardless of their age. This often result in child labor, simply because the child has to find a job in order to be a survivor.
I think the most effective way of reducing child labor is the Increase demand for schooling.
